What are ways to change IP

Disguise the IP address - this is how it works

You can hide the IP address of your connection in various ways, for example with VPN services, via the Tor network or with the help of proxy servers. Put simply, they are all based on the principle that the data packets from your PC are first redirected to a server, which then sends and receives them. The other person therefore only sees the IP address of this server and not that of your PC directly.

  • You can hide your IP address, for example, with the Tor browser bundle. This program is based on the Firefox browser.
  • When you open the Tor browser, it gets an IP address from the Tor network that differs from your actual IP address. The private mode is also activated immediately, so that no chronicle is created while surfing.
  • Since a detour always has to be taken when accessing the website, a high bandwidth is not always guaranteed with the Tor browser.
  • Another web browser that allows the IP address to be obfuscated is Opera. The VPN mode is integrated directly into the program and can be easily activated.
  • You can also surf the Internet anonymously with a VPN. VPN stands for "Virtual Private Network"; company networks, for example, are often configured in this way. When you connect to such a network, you are essentially assuming the IP address of the program operator.
  • There is a wide range of VPN providers to choose from. In some cases, the offer and the costs are very different. For this reason, we have compared the 5 best VPN providers for you in another practical tip.
  • A proxy server is the classic way of changing your IP. In addition to caching and filtering functions, you can also use a proxy server to surf privately. In another practical tip, we will show you how to use a proxy correctly.
