What is a font style

Change the font or size in Numbers on Mac

You can change the font or size of text and replace a font used in your spreadsheet.

Change the font or font size

  1. Select the text you want to change.

Select the text field or table cell to change the text in a text field or table cell.

  2. Click in the sidebar "Format" on the "Text" tab and then on the "Style" button at the top of the sidebar.

  3. Click the Font pop-up menu, then choose a font.

  4. Click the small arrows to the right of the font size to make the font larger or smaller.

Tip: You can add buttons to the toolbar that allow you to quickly change the font and make the selected text larger or smaller.

Replace fonts

If you want to change all occurrences of a font in your spreadsheet, you can replace the font with a different one.

  1. Choose Format> Type> Replace Fonts (the Format menu is at the top of the screen).

  2. Click on the double arrows to the right of the font you want to replace and select a different font.

If the font is listed as missing, you can also choose a font style.

  3. Click on "Replace Fonts".

All occurrences of the font are replaced. The replacement font uses the same font size and weight as the replaced font.

If you open a spreadsheet that uses fonts that are not installed on your computer, a message will appear briefly at the top of the spreadsheet. Click on "Show" in the message and choose a replacement font. If you have the missing font and you want to install it on your computer, use the "Fonts Collection" app in the "Applications" folder on your Mac (instructions can be found in the Fonts Collection - User Manual).

If you chose a different spreadsheet font and then later installed the missing font, your spreadsheet will use the replacement font until you replace it again with the installed font.
