Can I get my Fitbit Flex wet?
Which Fitbit is waterproof? All trackers at a glance!
Waterproof - all Fitbits at a glance
First the whole view clearly as a table. In the table you can find all fitness trackers from Fitbit. The properties waterproof and pulse measurement (HR function) are listed.
What does waterproof mean in Fitbit? If Fitbit labels its devices as waterproof, it means that the corresponding fitness trackers up to 50 meters can be used under water. The duration is not limited by the classification by Fitbit.
This means that the Fitbit trackers are also suitable for swimming. Most are also able to record the lanes while swimming.
Can Fitbit be used in salt water (sea)?Yes, the manufacturer also approves its waterproof devices for use in salt water. This primarily includes seas.
As a recommendation, however, the manufacturer states that the fitness trackers should be dried and cleaned after use in salt water. This is supposed to prevent salt crusts.
As a small note, it should be said that, of course, no trajectories can be recorded in the sea or other open waters. That should be quite logical, as there are simply no fixed track lengths there.
What about Fitbit non-waterproof devices? If a Fitbit is not declared as waterproof, the manufacturer does not guarantee water damage. This means that the corresponding fitness trackers - Charge 2, Alta, Alta HR, Zip - should not be worn while showering or swimming.
On the other hand, the trackers can handle splashing water. This means that you do not have to take the devices off when washing the dishes or washing your hands.
In general, however, you should be careful with water with the non-waterproof Fitbits. Many also report positive experiences with water and the Charge 2 or Alta HR. However, the manufacturer does not give a guarantee.
Why is the heart rate measurement in the table?
A fitness tracker without heart rate measurement is relatively useless for meaningful use. Fitbit took a long time to pack the combination of waterproof and heart rate measurement in one device.
The first fitness tracker from Fitbit that was waterproof and had a pulse function was the Fitbit Blaze. In order to help you with the purchase decision, this information is therefore extremely important.
