Is ScHoolboy Q a good rapper

Schoolboy Q biography

Schoolboy Q

Kendrick Lamar may be the over-rapper for the Los Angeles Black Hippy crew. Right behind, however, his buddy Schoolboy positions himself in the hierarchy of the troops, whose great strength is actually not having a hierarchy.

When Kendrick already appears on Drake and The Game albums, Schoolboy Q is still taking care of the fans who are not yet ready to release their new favorite rappers from the West Coast to the mainstream. Kendrick Lamar has the Tupac gene. Schoolboy Q, on the other hand, is reminiscent of the unpredictability of Eazy-Es.

Even if Schoolboy Q is hailed as the new West Coast star, he's actually not from there. Quincy Hanley was born in October 1986 on a military base in Germany. He soon moved to Texas with his mother.

As a child of divorce he knew about family problems, but he only got to know the really difficult family relationships in the socially disadvantaged areas of Los Angeles, where he moved on with his mother when he was still school.

He attended Crewnshaw High School, which Ice-T attended, and became a talented football player. However, the times as an ambitious student, from which his stage name comes, will soon be over. Sport is the only thing that keeps him in school.

Soon, however, the bad grades won't be Q's main problem. He comes to the 52 Hoover Crips. Without having grown up in really bad circumstances. The buddies do it, so you slip in yourself. And then you're a gang banger. And drug dealers.

Schoolboy Q sells oxycodone, a prescription pain reliever. And makes good money with it. But it comes as it has to: Of the two prospects that young adults expect in the drug business, Q at least gets the better of the two options. No bullets hit him, but he goes to jail.

After a few months behind bars and a few under house arrest, Schoolboy Q meets Anthony 'Top Dawg' Tiffith. He is the head of Top Dawg Entertainment and is interested in Schoolboy Q's rap talent. A talent to which Q himself never paid much attention until he looked for an outlet for his aggression and fears about the future after his difficulties with the law.

The rap thing is becoming a real option and with Top Dawg Q has found the right environment to live out. Not that gang banging is a thing of the past from one day to the next, but what the other guys at Top Dawg - Jay Rock, Ab-Sould and Kendrick Lamar - are doing musically motivates Q to stay a little longer in the studio.

The success of Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock as well as the positive feedback from the Internet to every other song that they release TDE rappers as a collective Black Hippy further fires the motivation. The guys grow together into a real crew. Not only their draft horse Kendrick Lamar is causing a sensation in the scene, but also West Coast traditionalist Jay Rock, the weed head Ab-Soul and, last but not least, the human street rapper Schoolboy Q.

Q owns Biggies Swagger, the Nonchalance of 50 Cent, the Roadside of Mobb Deep, the Precision of Nas and the Style of Jay-Z. With his download mix tapes "Setbacks" and "Habits & Contradictions", which are actually entire albums, he sets real standards and positions himself between the old heroes of the gang starap era and the new heroes who like to talk primarily about drug cocktails and style -Talk questions.

Q's contact with his childhood friend Tyga, who is now under contract with Young Money, certainly helps him with networking, as does his proximity to the hyped New York A $ AP Rocky, whom Q simply "the Eascoast version"calls from himself.
