Can I come to climb on my own?
No. To climb, you need a belaying partner who knows all the common belaying methods.
If you don't have a belaying partner, you can climb to jump height in our bouldering room without safety ropes. In addition, the bouldering room is secured by a soft floor mat.

Can I get acquaintances to teach me how to belay in the hall?
We recommend completing our basic course to learn safety technology.
An experienced trainer teaches you how to secure and basic safety-related knowledge in 6 hours.
For your own safety, we advise against having a friend show you how to secure it "quickly".

I have never climbed before, how do I start?
In order to climb independently in our halls, you have to master the rope and safety technique. If you can't do that, there are three ways as a layman to climb or start climbing.

Bouldering
Bouldering is an English term for a sub-discipline of climbing. It means rope-free / unsecured climbing at jump height. Since you do not have to master any safety technology for this, you can come by spontaneously, pay the bouldering tariff and get started. Don't forget sportswear and clean sneakers, or borrow climbing shoes. Our separate bouldering areas are 3.50 m high and completely covered with soft floor mats.

Trial climbing
During the trial climbing, one of our trainers will secure and supervise you for two hours and you can just try out whether climbing is fun for you. Contents are not conveyed. It costs € 70 for two participants, € 15 for each additional person, climbing harness and shoes are included. You can choose a date and time freely, you just have to register early, be 2-5 people and pay a deposit of € 20.

Basic course
If you know that you would like to practice this sport independently, the basic course is the right one. Because here you can learn rope and safety techniques as well as elementary climbing techniques. The course costs 69 € and takes place over two evenings in one week (2 x 3 hours)

What is bouldering and how does it work?
Bouldering is an English expression for a sub-discipline of climbing. It means rope-free / unsecured climbing at jump height. Since you don't have to master any safety technology for this, you can come by spontaneously, pay the bouldering tariff and get started. Don't forget sportswear and clean sneakers, or borrow climbing shoes. Our separate bouldering areas are 3.50 m high and completely covered with soft floor mats.

What are the requirements for climbing?
You should have fun climbing.
If you “just want to climb”, it is sufficient if you bring comfortable sportswear (preferably long sport pants) with you. You can borrow harness and climbing shoes from us for a small fee. As a belayer, you must be able to master and apply the common securing techniques.

From what age can children climb in extreme?
There is no age limit. You can climb with your child with us at any time, provided that you have mastered the safety technology.
To take part in the climbing club, your child should be at least 6 years old.

The following excerpt from the hall rules applies to minors:

1.3 - Children up to the age of 14 may only use the climbing facility under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian or another person of legal age with sufficient safety knowledge. Supervision is also mandatory in the children's area and in the bouldering room and it is necessary to ensure safe and considerate behavior towards other users.

1.4 - Young people from the age of 14 may only use the climbing facility after presenting a written declaration of consent (with passport photo). This must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian on your first visit to the climbing hall.

Do I have to pay admission even if I am not climbing myself?
No. With us, only those who climb pay admission. You don't have to pay an entrance fee to “just watch” or “watch”.

Do groups have to register in advance?
Even if you don't need a trainer, we would be happy if groups of 10 people or more inform us about their visit in advance.
This allows us to plan better and we do not accept larger groups at this time.
Furthermore, we can inform you if a larger group is already registered if you have agreed in advance.
If you need one or more extreme trainers, the group must be registered at least 7 working days before the event.

Do I also need a climbing partner for a basic course?
No. The climbing partners in the courses are put together individually by us.

What clothing is recommended for climbing?
We recommend comfortable sportswear, preferably long sports pants, as slight abrasions from the wall structure cannot be ruled out. Of course, we recommend wearing climbing shoes as footwear. Indoor sports shoes are also possible.
What we do not want for hygienic reasons is to climb barefoot or in socks.

How / where do I find a climbing partner?
On the one hand, you have the opportunity to register in our forum or to react to entries. You are also welcome to post a notice on our notice board in the climbing hall. Some climbing partners can also be found when you attend a course. Or you come to the climbing partner meeting.

Does the climbing hall in Mannheim also have a shop and a bistro?
In Extrem Mannheim there is only the equipment that we offer as part of our entry-level set, which of course can also be purchased individually.
